Scheduled Highway 74 Lane Closure and Power Outage on February 13

The City of Monroe’s Electric Division will be closing a single lane of W. Highway 74 and conducting a scheduled power outage for a select number of customers on February 13, 2024, to complete the installation of electric cables and equipment.

The single lane closure will take place on the outside, westbound lane (toward Charlotte) of Highway 74 from Fowler Secrest Road past Secrest Price Road from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All traffic control devices and personnel will be in place to direct traffic during the closure.

The power outage will impact 213 customers in Redwood Living and Woodlands Creek subdivisions from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. All impacted customers will receive notification from the Energy Services Department prior to the outage.

The work being performed will re-route existing primary electric cables to serve power to the new Yardley (BTR) development. This project is expected to conclude by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13.
