The City of Monroe Engineering Department in conjunction with North Carolina Department of Transportation will be sweeping US Highway 74 (Roosevelt Boulevard) during the weeks of November 11 and November 18, excluding Veterans Day on November 11.
During street sweeping operations, temporary lane closures will occur during the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Drivers are reminded to take precautions around street sweeping equipment.
The City recommends motorists leave at least three car lengths between their vehicle and a street sweeping operation. Keeping a safe distance can also prevent damage to vehicles from debris that might come from the street sweeper during the cleaning process.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area during sweeping of US 74 and to take alternate routes if possible.
