The curtain is rising on a new opportunity at the Dowd Center Theatre. We’re excited to announce that 10 reservation slots are now available exclusively for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations based in Monroe or Union County. Whether you’re planning a community performance, fundraiser, or something completely original, this is your chance to take center stage at one of the region’s most iconic venues.
Reservations will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and must follow City of Monroe rental guidelines. Eligible organizations will receive access to the theatre space, support from our team, and the chance to host a memorable event in the heart of Downtown Monroe.
Reservation slots begin in late August 2025 and run through spring 2026. Visit the website to learn more and submit your reservation request.
Since 1940, the Dowd Center Theatre has stood proudly in the heart of historic Downtown Monroe. Originally named the Center Theatre, it was designed in the distinctive Art Moderne style by architect Earle G. Stillwell. After decades as a movie house, the venue was reborn through a major renovation into the modern, multi-purpose cultural landmark it is today.
With a 560-seat auditorium, gallery space, and fully updated facilities, the Dowd Center Theatre offers the perfect setting for mission-driven groups to connect, inspire, and engage.
The Dowd has always been a place for community. Now, it could be yours.
