ReadyNC provides an excellent website/app for information in times of emergency. They report on weather updates, road conditions, power outages, shelters, evacuations, emergency plans and kits, floods, disaster assistance, and more.

NC 2-1-1

NC 2-1-1 is a part of NC's State Emergency Response Team and may be activated in a disaster.  You can dial 2-1-1 from any phone to reach a compassionate, trained call specialist 24/7/365 who has access to real-time information on shelters, evacuation routes, and more.  NC 2-1-1 call specialists can help you find food, meal sites, water, and other recovery and rebuilding resources after a disaster as well.

Flood Maps

Please follow the links below to view FEMA’s National Flood Hazard Layer Viewer and a GIS Flood-Prone Areas Map, respectively. These will provide information regarding potential flood areas and areas to avoid when heavy rains begin. Please understand these maps are just tools and do not represent real-time hazardous conditions. Emergency staff encourages all to use extreme caution when needing to travel and in most cases asks that residents stay off the roadways during these potentially hazardous weather events.

These maps do contain a lot of data, so please allow sufficient time for the maps to load fully.

Union County Emergency Management

The Emergency Management Department works with other entities and the public to guarantee Union County is prepared to protect itself against, respond to and recover from various types of disasters. This is accomplished by identifying the community's hazards, resources and capabilities and conducting preparedness briefs through developing and exercising emergency operations plans and coordinating efforts between response units.
