Programs and EventsAt Monroe Aquatics and Fitness Center (MAFC), we believe in offering different activities that you and your family can enjoy together or individually. We believe that staying healthy is more than just exercising regularly and eating well.

Our purpose at MAFC is to improve the physical and mental well-being of each individual member by providing a pleasant exercise environment while incorporating exceptional fun family alternatives.

Racquetball Clinic

Curious about racquetball? Members can join Mildred Gwinn, nationally ranked gold medalist, on Tuesday, February 17 to learn the fundamentals of racquetball. Open to children and adult members ages 8 & up. Only $5! Register at the front desk.

Coffee With a Cop

Members, please stop by to enjoy a FREE cup of coffee and meet our local law enforcement. We are encouraging communication and positive interactions between law enforcement and the community. The Coffee Nut is providing the coffee!

Ability in Motion

“Ability in Motion” is fun, supportive 6-week group fitness class designed for our adult members with special needs. This weekly class focuses on movement, strength, balance, and cardiovascular fitness using adaptable exercises that meet participants where they are.

Each session encourages confidence, independence, and social connection in a positive, judgment-free environment. Participants can move at their own pace, take breaks as needed, and choose options that feel right for their bodies. “Ability in Motion” is about feeling good, having fun, and being part of a community.

Pet Food and Supply Drive

Join Our Pet Supply Drive!  Help our furry friends by donating essential pet supplies to those in need. We’re collecting food, toys, cleaning supplies, and more to support local animal shelters.  Drop off your donations in the front lobby from January 12 to February 9. Together, let’s ensure every pet gets the care they deserve!

Prom Dress Collection Drive

Help local high school girls fulfill their dreams of attending prom by providing them with the necessary attire. Donations will benefit the Heart for Monroe "Prom Dress Event". Drop off gently used prom dresses, formal jewelry, and formal shoes to help make prom night a reality for more students.

Parent's Night Out

Members and their guests can take advantage of our Valentine Edition of Parent's Night Out on Friday, February 13.  Children who are walking through age 12 will enjoy a pizza dinner, crafts, swimming (age 5 and up), and gym time.  Wear your swimsuit and bring a change of clothes.

Mindful Meditation

MAFC members - your self-love starts here on Valentine's Day in a half hour of guided meditation on Saturday, February 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Your mind and body will thank you!  Please bring your own personal yoga mat.  Pre-registration required at the front desk.  Class limited to 20 participants.

School Day Out

We'd love to have our members age 5 through 12 years old spend the day with us during the teacher workday on February 16. If you're familiar with our Summer Day Camp, this is a mini version to include, arts/crafts, games in the gymnasium, outdoor play and swimming. Register in person at the front desk. Spaces are limited to only 25 children, so claim your spot early!

Candle Making 101

Unleash your inner artisan at our Candle Making 101 Workshop on Saturday, March 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.! Join Tammy Streeter of Semicolon Candles in this hands-on class to create your own one-of-a-kind candle masterpiece. Tammy offers everything you need! The cost is $25 and registration is required.

Easter Celebration

Bring your family & your peeps to our Easter Celebration! A special bunny will be making an appearance! Enjoy an egg hunt at 6:15 p.m. and crafts, games, a bounce house, and a kids' dance class. This is a free outdoor event. Food truck items, lemonade, and bundt cakes will be for sale.

The Reading Reef

The Reading Reef is Where Books Make a Splash. Our youngest members can take a book to enjoy at home or leave a book for another child to enjoy. There is no cost and no check out system. The Reading Reef Bookshelf is located near Tot's Corner.

The Coffee Nut

We are thrilled to welcome back our vocational students from UCPS for the reopening of The Coffee Nut. Our members and the public are welcomed to stop by their shop for a hot cup of coffee, a treat, and the best smiles around. Bring cash, and grab a customer loyalty card!

Knitting Class

Bring your own supplies as Nurse Sheila and Nurse Tracey instruct you through various knitting projects and techniques. This is a free ongoing event series open to MAFC members. For more information, contact Tracey Leitner or Sheila Mobley.
