Copies of Accident, Incident or Arrest Reports - Free of Charge

Incident, Arrest, & Accident Reports

Public copies of incident and arrest reports may be obtained online, in person between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, or requested by email.

Reports cannot be faxed.

The following is needed to locate a report:

  • report number
  • name of person involved or
  • location of the incident and date

Accidents

A copy of the DMV-349 crash report is available to the following parties:

  • Drivers and/or passengers of the vehicle(s) involved in the collision
  • Owners of the vehicle(s) involved in the collision
  • To any party representing the above aforementioned parties in any legal or civil proceeding(s)

A copy may be obtained in any of the following ways:

  • In person at the monroe police department located at:
    450 W Crowell Street, Monroe, NC 28112
    (Note: Please have this paper or the report number with you)
  • Online - The in-person and online copies of the report are identical

Please allow three business days for the report to be processed prior to requesting a copy.

Fingerprinting

The Union County Sheriff's Office offers fingerprinting services for a variety of reasons including child care providers, foster parents, adoption, employment, insurance producers, nursing, volunteer firefighters/EMS, etc. Fingerprinting is done by appointment.

All fingerprinting is done at the Union County Sheriff's Office. Concealed handgun fingerprint appointments are set up when you apply for your concealed weapon online through our website. The concealed weapon fingerprints are also conducted at the Union County Sheriff's Office at 3370 Presson Road If you have any questions about the scheduling process, call 704-283-3789.

Effective October 1, 2012 the Union County Sheriff's Office will charge a fee of $20 for all fingerprinting services for anyone who is not a resident of Union County. Proof of residency will be determined by presenting a valid, North Carolina issued driver's license or ID card. Fingerprinting services will continue to be provided to Union County residents at no charge.
If you are applying for a concealed handgun permit, the cost of fingerprinting is included in the permit fee.
