Fire Inspections of all commercial occupancies in the City of Monroe are required by the North Carolina Fire Code. The frequency of these inspections is set to a minimum of the following based upon this code.
6 Months: Public, Private, and Charter Schools
Annually: Hazardous, Institutional, High-Rise, Assembly, Residential
2 years: Industrial, Educational
3 Years: Assembly with less than 100, Business, Mercantile, Storage, Churches, and Miscellaneous
Fire Code enforcement officials are certified through the state of North Carolina Code Officials Qualifications Boards. North Carolina Fire Prevention Code Inspectors certifications levels 1, 2, and 3 are based on occupancy classifications.
