Class Descriptions
Parent/Child: Ages 6 months to 3 years
This class is designed to introduce your child to the water. It will get them comfortable with simple swim basics such as getting their face, eyes, and ears wet, splashing, kicking, and being in the water for an extended amount of time (30 minutes). The goal of this class is to better prepare them for our traditional group classes by being exposed to the water early on. Parents are in the water with their child for this class. One parent per one child ratio.
Level 1: Preschool Ages 3 to 5 years or Youth Ages 6 to 12 years
This is our beginning level swim class. The instructor assists the swimmer with all of the skills learned during this class. This class is suitable for those who have no swimming experience and may not be comfortable in the water just yet.
Level 2: Preschool Ages 3 to 5 years or Youth Ages 6 to 12 years
This class is where we start to build the swimmers confidence. After mastering all the skills in Level 1, the swimmer will work on the same skills but without the instructor assisting. They will work on their confidence to be able to do all the skills on their own without the instructors assistance. This class is suitable for those who are comfortable in the water but not quite swimming on their own. The goal of this class will be for them to be able to swim a short distance on their own.
Level 3: Preschool Ages 3 to 5 years or Youth Ages 6 to 12 years
This class is where we begin to introduce different strokes such as backstroke, breaststroke, and some elements of butterfly. By Level 3, swimmers should be able to swim on their own at least 5 yards.
Level 4: Youth Ages 6 to 12 years
The purpose of this class is to perfect each stroke. Swimmers in Level 4 should already know the basic mechanics of each of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. We will focus on correct technique in this level to perfect each of their strokes. We also start to introduce sitting dives and work on treading water.
Intro to Swim Team: Ages 10 to 14 years
Swimmers in this class will start working on drills that are often used during traditional swim team practices. This is our highest level of lessons and participants in this class are must know all four competitive strokes and be able to swim at least 25 yards of each.
Developmental Swim Team: Ages 10 to 16 years
This class is a higher level than our Intro to Swim Team. Swimmers in this class will be in a swim team level practice. They must be able to swim a 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 25 butterfly, and 25 breaststroke.
Adult/Teen Basics: Teen Ages 13 to 18 years or Adult 18+
Our basic classes are for those who are looking to learn the fundamentals of swimming but do not fall in the age category of our traditional group classes. Swimmers will work on floating, breathing techniques, and swimming short distances safely and confidently.
Adult Intermediate: Ages 18+
This is our second level for adult classes. Swimmers in this class are comfortable in the water and have mastered the fundamentals of swimming, but are looking to improve their technique and ability to swim longer distances.
